KidsMatter is an Australian primary school mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention initiative developed in collaboration with the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Ageing, beyondblue: the national depression initiative, the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian Principals Associations Professional Development Council (APAPDC) and supported by the Australian Rotary Health Research Fund.

"There's a lot of adults out there who really would have benefited from early intervention in primary school with the sort of resilience and encouragement, the social and emotional learning, to be in touch with their feelings, to feel good about themselves, to reach their potential. I think a lot of adults now have missed that education, I don't think there was any focus on it years ago. And now, with Kids Matter I find that there is such a strong emphasis on mental health and encouraging children that can only benefit the wider community in years to come."
